5 People who betrayed Osman Bey (Kurulus Osman): Goktug Alp (Formerly known as Kongar)

Kongar was the main soldier and the right hand of Komutan Balgay (Mongol). Kongar was brainwashed by the Mongols and was bought by Balgay from a slave market after Kongar’s tribe was destroyed by the Mongols. In a fight between the Mongols and Kayi, Kongar was captured by Osman Bey. Kongar’s brother, Konur was a close alp of Osman Bey. Konur revealed the fact to Osman Bey that Kongar is his long-lost brother. Upon telling this fact, they tried to recall Kongar that he was a Muslim and was lost somewhere after Mongols attacked their tribe. As Kongar was stuck and helpless, he thought that the only way to escape is to fake it in front of the Alps and Osman Bey. They all thought that Kongar has actually become a part of them, but as soon as he was alone with his brother, he pounced onto his brother (Konur Alp) and killed him. In this way, he betrayed Osman Bey. Later Osman Bey showed him an agreement that stated the fact that he was sold to Balgay in a slave market. This made him realize and ashamed that he had killed his own brother and then he reverted to Islam and became Osman’s main alp named Goktug Alp.
